Three Drink Theory: Finding Brisbane’s Viral Drinks

Our Brisbane editor takes you on a journey to try the tastiest drinks around town.

Cardamom Pod

If you’ve spent even the bare minimum amount of time online, it’s likely you’ve been exposed to the “three drink theory” - the trend where you require three drinks at any given moment, one to hydrate, one to caffeinate and one to alleviate.

While some of us consider these three emotional support beverages as the height of luxury, it can also act as a little mood booster to get you through a busy day at the office, or an excuse to catch up with a friend on the weekend to try a specific viral drink you’ve seen making the rounds on social.

In any case, this is a trend (or, perhaps, a lifestyle choice) that I can well and truly get behind.

So, my fellow beverage goblins, scroll on and discover where to find the must-try viral drinks in Brisbane. Or, if you know of one that hasn’t made the list, let me know! Slide into the @sitchu.brisbane DMs and let’s talk drinks.

Mr Duncans

Mr Duncans’ Bougie Hot Choc

Mr Duncans Collective is shaking up the sipping scene in Chinatown, with the arrival of their bougie new hot chocolates! Having recently extended their hours of trade, you can now visit the Buttery Boy cafe between 6pm-8pm on Fridays and Saturdays for a late-night sweet treat.

The new menu additions include a cookies and cream and a white chocolate brulee flavour, with the option to add Baileys to either hot choc to make your bougie drink a little boozy.

Plant Vibes

Plant Vibes’ Creamy Ginger Cappucino

If you’re craving a Christmassy, cosy feel to your next morning cuppa, head down to Plant Vibes in Bowen Hills for a creamy ginger cappuccino, topped with whipped cream and a Lotus Biscoff speculoos cookie, it doesn’t get any more decadent than this.

52 Brookes Street, Bowen Hills

Kin Teneriffe

Kin’s Strawberry Matcha

If you’re on the hunt for the best strawberry matcha latte in Brisbane, we’d like to nominate Kin as a top contender!

Blending their homemade strawberry puree and ceremonial grade matcha with your choice of milk, the matcha here is the perfect blend of sweet fruity flavours and the mellow vegetal notes of the tea.

It’s a must-try, and makes for the perfect sip to savour as you stroll along the river walk.

24 Macquarie Street, Teneriffe

Darvella Patisserie

Darvella’s Tiramisu Latte & Strawberry Matcha Latte

We’re long-term lovers of Darvella’s perfectly flaky croissants and wide range of sweet and savoury baked treats, but we’ve also noticed that they’ve been upping their ante when it comes to the drinks scene.

For a limited time, pop by their Bulimba location to try the tiramisu iced latte, a luxurious blend of espresso, creamy tiramisu and a light dusting of cocoa powder.

Or, opt for the go-to viral drink, their whipped strawberry matcha! Combining earthy matcha with whipped strawberry cream, this drink will linger long in your mind after you try it for the first time!

37 Oxford Street, Bulimba

Peach Cafe

Peach Cafe’s White Choc Matcha & Teddy Bear Picnic Hot Choc

Known for their decadent drinks, beautiful brekkie plates and gooey cookies, pretty little Peach Cafe is serving up some seriously drool-worthy drinks this season.

You’ve probably seen the Teddy Bear Picnic Hot Chocolate on the gram, a mug full of velvety frothed milk with a solid chocolate bear on the side to dunk in and create a creamy drink that warms you from the inside out.

Peach Cafe just keep upping the ante, with the addition of of iced strawberry matcha, mango milk matcha and an incredible strawberry matcha hot chocolate, served with two perfectly toasted marshmallows on the side for the most decadent drink in town.

97 Haig Road, Auchenflower

Cardamom Pod

Cardamom Pod’s Apple Pie Latte

This one is a little bit of a road trip from Brisbane, but trust me, it's worth it! From the first sip of an apple pie latte at Cardamom Pod, you feel like you’ve just taken a bite of a freshly baked apple pie at your grandma’s house.

Mixing apple sauce with dandelion and caramel, this light and fluffy drink feels like the ultimate indulgence. Pair it with any one of Cardamom Pod’s artfully plated plant-based meals for the ultimate weekend brunch.

3/3 Brolga Avenue, Southport

Now that you’ve sipped your way through the best viral drinks in Brisbane, why indulge in another little treat, with some of the tastiest desserts in town? Or if you need to walk off your sugar high, take a stroll on one of Brisbane’s best walks.
