Gelato Messina

Gelato Messina

If you haven’t heard of Gelato Messina, you may have been living under a rock. This cult favourite ice creamery came to Brisbane in 2017, opening its largest venue in South Brisbane. Now with two locations in Brisbane, it’s easier than ever to get a tasty gelato fix at almost any hour. Messina prides itself on its unique flavours, all crafted from scratch in-house. They don’t use any pre-made bases or mass-produced flavour pastes to concoct their frozen scoops of heaven, and we think the consistent line out the door speaks for itself.

La Macelleria

La Macelleria

A true Italian export, La Macelleria’s origins hark back to Bologna, the gelato capital! After studying economics and then under some of the most revered Mastro Gelatiere (master ice cream makers), Matteo C and Matteo Z worked to create their very own store in an old butcher shop in Bologna (hence, the name of La Macelleria, which translates to The Butchery).

After travelling to Australia and falling in love with our country (but not with our lack of traditional gelateria), they moved their operation down under, and we’ve been reaping the rewards ever since! With multiple locations across the city, you can score some of the best ice cream Brisbane has on offer no matter where you are!

Allora

Allora

A true labour of love, the gelato at Allora has a 110-year history. As a third-generation Gelatiere, Adam Naddei traces his talent back to his Nonno Joeseppi in Naples, in 1912. Opening Allora with partner Laura Williamson, this cosy ice cream shop is the perfect meeting place for families, friends or couples seeking a taste of the sweet life. Allora is an Italian word used to fill the blanks, slow you down, and redirect you when you’re lost. Where better to be lost, than to find yourself eating some of the best ice cream in Brisbane?
