Brisbane’s burgeoning food scene is a source of joy for all the foodies, social friend groups and families who love any excuse to get out of the house and experience the joy of food.

If you’re planning to put down roots somewhere in Brisbane, but don’t want to compromise on your taste-driven lifestyle, we’ve curated the perfect guide for you!

Paddington

Paddington has a well-earned reputation in Brisbane as one of the best suburbs to live in for foodies, shoppers and families. Close to the city’s fringe, Paddington’s quaint cottages and leafy streets are dripping in charm, and that’s not all that has us smitten.

On each corner, you’ll find cafes, bars, restaurants and bakeries, bustling with locals who frequent each establishment. With walkable streets, op shopping and boutiques to explore, there’s always a reason to wander around this suburb, and naturally, that means you’ll need to refuel at some point!

Try Remy’s for burgers, Grappino for Italian, and Yavanna for pub-style vegan fare.

West End

West End

West End is one of Brisbane’s best suburbs for anyone who adores food, festivals, culture and markets. Brimming with restaurants that cover every corner of the globe, and every type of budget. From casual quick bites, to chef-hatted fine dining, West End has it all.

It’s also home to iconic annual food festivals like the Paniyiri Greek Festival, and one of Brisbane’s most popular weekend markets for fresh produce, hot brekkies and rejuvenating juices.

Newstead

The newest darling of the Brisbane foodie scene is Newstead, a thriving metropolis of young professionals, run clubs and foodies who love nothing more than trying all of the newest restaurants.

Bordering the fringe of fellow foodie suburbs Fortitude Valley and New Farm, Newstead has come into its own. Popular cafes like Salt, Nodo, and Kin are long-time favourites.

Rosalie (Image credit: Tourism & Events QLD)

Rosalie

Rosalie has a community-focused, charming appeal and is definitely one of Brisbane’s most family-friendly locations. But one of our favourite things about this little leafy ‘burb, is that it’s still conveniently close Brisbane’s inner city areas, and it’s surrounded by tasty places to eat.

You’re right on the edge of Caxton Street and Milton, which are known for their abundance of eateries, but don’t forget about the businesses within Rosalie that are not to be missed. Combine dinner with date night by catching a flick at the Blue Room Cinebar, or nibble on a cheese platter at the Wine Experience bar. You’ll never be short of things to do here in Rosalie.

Woollongabba (Image credit: Tourism & Events QLD)

Woolloongabba

An up-and-coming area that blends convenience, lifestyle and recreation with ease, Woolloongabba is one of our top picks for foodie-minded places to live.

Home to hidden bars, top-notch Italian eats and some seriously tasty Thai, Woolloongabba isn’t just a destination for a sports match. Some of our favourite venues to visit here are Sunsets Rooftop Bar, Coffee Supreme, 1889 Enoteca and Casa Chow.

South Brisbane (Image credit: Tourism & Events QLD)

South Brisbane

South Brisbane is easily one of the most vibrant parts of our river city and is the absolute best place to live for anyone seeking easy access to Brisbane’s arts and culture as well as some of the best restaurants.

Residents of South Brisbane can taste their way around the globe, with a diverse range of cuisines at their doorstep, and endless date night opportunities with the South Bank precinct a short stroll or drive away.
