14 Christmas Cocktail Recipes: Festive Sips to Stir Up This Silly Season

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas – and there’s no better way to get into the festive spirit than by crafting a delicious cocktail or two at home.

Happy sipping! From gin-fused libations to berry-nice margaritas, these are the best cocktail recipes to try out this Christmas, certain to make the holiday season even more merry and bright.

Mirabeau Gin Egg Nog (hot/cold)

Enjoy this Maison Mirabeau Egg Nog cocktail with a Mirabeau twist as an after-Christmas lunch palate cleanser, with both hot and cold options available.

Ingredients

  • 30ml Mirabeau Dry Gin
  • 15ml Cognac
  • 20ml Sugar Syrup
  • 90ml almond milk
  • 30ml heavy cream
  • 1 Egg

Method

For the Cold Version

Mix all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously to get the air going. Then add some ice and repeat. After this double shake serve over ice in a glass rimmed with sugar and a hint of cinnamon. Grate some nutmeg over the top and garnish with a cinnamon stick.

For the Warm Version

Shake all the ingredients to thoroughly mix them. Then gently warm through, be careful not to get the egg too warm, and serve in a mini tankard. Garnish with grated nutmeg and a cinnamon stick.

Mistletoe Martini

A classic cocktail to start the holiday season with a festive spin.

Ingredients

  • 60ml Mirabeau Dry Gin
  • 15ml Chambord Raspberry Liqueur
  • 15ml Cointreau Orange Liqueur
  • Juice of a lime

Method

Shake together all the ingredients in an ice filled cocktail shaker and strain into a chilled Martini glass. Garnish with raspberries, rosemary or candy canes.

Sunday Brunch

The perfect Boxing Day recovery drink.

Ingredients

  • 30ml Diplomatico Mantuano
  • 10ml honey syrup
  • 5ml all-spice dram
  • 45ml fresh pineapple juice
  • 10ml fresh lime juice
  • 40ml Dry Prosecco
  • Glass: Coupe or Champagne flute
  • Mint or pineapple leaf to garnish

Method

  1. Pour rum, honey, all-spice dram, pineapple juice, lime juice and prosecco into shaker and shake until combined.
  2. Pour into glass and garnish with mint or pineapple leaf. 

Gingerbread Old Fashioned

Drink this beautiful cocktail as you're watching your favourite festive movie the night before Christmas. 

Ingredients

Method

  1. Pour rum, gingerbread syrup and aromatic bitters into glass.
  2. Garnish with orange peel or chocolate gingerbread

Santa's Gin Fizz 

A fruity cocktail blend to serve up at a pre-Christmas gathering with your best gal-pals. 

Ingredients

Pomegranate-Cranberry Syrup:

  • 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cranberry juice
  • * To make the syrup: Cover the pomegranate seeds with sugar, stir, and let sit for 3-4 hours. Then add cranberry juice and stir to dissolve any remaining sugar. Fine-strain before using in a cocktail. 

Method

  1. Add gin, syrup, egg whites and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker and dry shake (no ice) to build foam. 
  2. Add ice and shake again. Strain into a martini glass. 
  3. Top with ginger beer. 
  4. Garnish with fresh pomegranate seeds. 

Ruby Spritz

The Rhapsody Ruby Gin by Australian Distilling Co is a surefire way to make all your festive cocktails extra special this season.

The bright flavours of blackcurrant and elderberry that float through this scarlet-hued gin are uplifted even further with a splash of zingy grapefruit soda; the perfect tipple for a sunny afternoon.

Method

  1. Simply pour all ingredients into a wine glass filled with ice and garnish with a grapefruit wedge.

White Lady

This gorgeous cocktail is great not just for Christmas, but for every sunny day going forward!

Ingredients

  • 50ml Bombay Citron Pressé
  • 20ml freshly pressed lemon juice
  • 20ml Cointreau
  • 10ml sugar syrup
  • 1/2 egg white
  • Lemon thumb to garnish

Method

  1. Take a chilled coupe or martini glass.
  2. Shake (hard) all ingredients together and strain into glass. Garnish and serve. 

Southside Fizz 

Refreshing and just a little bit boujee, this is a lovely pre-Christmas lunch cocktail, that would also serve you well at a New Year's Eve gathering.

Ingredients

  • 50ml Bombay Citron Pressé
  • 20ml freshly pressed lime juice
  • 10ml sugar syrup
  • 7-8 mint leaves 
  • 50ml champagne (chilled)
  • Mint leaf to garnish

Method

  1. Take a chilled coupe or martini glass and pour champagne in.
  2. Shake remaining ingredients over ice, strain into glass, garnish and serve. 

Cointreau-Berry Margarita 

Shake things it with this super refreshing, berrylicious cocktail, perfect for poolside hangs with friends and family. 

Ingredients

  • 30ml Cointreau
  • 30ml Blanco Tequila
  • 30ml fresh lime juice
  • 4 fresh blackberries

Method

  1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker.
  2. Add ice and shake until well-chilled
  3. Strain into a chilled Old-Fashioned glass. 
  4. Garnish with a blackberry and serve. 

Tia Maria Matcha-tini

Method

  1. Create your perfect green matcha rim on half of a chilled coupe or martini glass. 
  2. Pour Tia Maria Matcha, vodka and ice into a cocktail shaker and shake ingredients together.
  3. Pour in the contents of the shaker using a strainer and sieve into the glass. 

Gingergoat Martini

Equal parts comforting and charming, this Christmas-style cocktail will have you jumping for joy!

Ingredients

To garnish:

  • Whipped Cream
  • Gingerbread Man
  • Cinnamon Powder

Method

  1. In a shaker, mix Jumping Goat Vodka Liqueur with Vodka, Gingerbread Syrup and Baileys Irish Cream.
  2. Fill the shaker with ice and shake like a madman. Double strain into a festive glass.
  3. Garnish with whipped cream, a mini gingerbread man and cinnamon powder.

Peppermint White Russian

Double schnapps to this delicious cocktail treat. 

Ingredients

To garnish:

  • Chocolate shavings
  • Candy cane

Method

  1. In the shaker mix Jumping Goat Vodka Liqueur with the Peppermint Schnapps
  2. Fill the shaker with ice and shake well and double strain into a chilled coupe
  3. Layer cream on top and garnish with chocolate and a candy cane

Licor 43 Sangria 

Because Christmas is a time of giving...and sharing this cocktail jug amongst friends and family will surely do the trick!

Ingredients

  • 250ml fruity red wine
  • 250ml lemonade
  • 125ml Licor 43 Original
  • Apple, lemon and orange
  • 1 orange slice
  • 2 cinnamon sticks

Method

  1. Fill the jug with 1/3 of ice cubes and add the sliced fruit.
  2. Pour the red wine and lemonade in. 
  3. Add the Licor 43, garnish and serve. 

Serves 4-6

The Botanist Lushy Machine 

Stay cool over Christmas with this bright, refreshing cocktail blend. 

Ingredients

  • 45ml The Botanist Gin
  • 20ml lemon juice
  • 15ml red wine syrup
  • 2-3 strawberries
  • 1 cups crushed ice

To garnish:

  • Mint sprig, mixed berries

Method

  1. Add all ingredients and ice to blender, blend until smooth, pour into rocks glass, and enjoy.

* Red wine syrup: simmer 2 cups of red wine with 1 cup of granulated sugar, 1 cinnamon stick, 1 whole clove and 2 cardamom pods for 15-20 minutes, until syrupy. Strain before use and keep remainder refrigerated for up to 1 week.
