A Guide to The Best Restaurants in West Perth

Follow your appetite just a few moments west of Perth's CBD to the cosy cafes and best restaurants in West Perth.

Mayfair Lane

Once home to Perth's elite, many of West Perth's elegant historic buildings have been transformed into businesses and charming eateries. A stroll through the leafy streets lined with character buildings rewards with a range of dining options, from rustic cafes to a bottle-lined bodega.

When you've tried the cafes, wine bars and best restaurants in West Perth, head to the opposite side of the city at East Perth's waterside restaurants or neighbouring Subiaco for brunch.

But for now, happy eating.

Zafferano

Zafferano Restaurant

With serious fine dining credentials behind it, Zafferano Restaurant is a refined classic. It combines the aromatic cuisine of the sunny Mediterranean with the finest locally sourced produce - and the results exemplify the art of flavour.

The menu includes the freshest seafood caught daily, from Carnarvon in the state’s north to Esperance in the south. Experience the flavours of dry-aged Treetorn Farm Black Angus or chicken marinated in Moroccan spices accompanied by seasonal market garden produce.

There's also a delicious selection of desserts to complete what is truly one of the most memorable dining experiences in West Perth.

Atlas Food + Coffee

Atlas Food + Coffee

For specialty coffee, trendy brunch dishes, vegan smoothies and smiley staff, don't look past Atlas Food + Coffee. It's one of the best cafes in West Perth, perfectly suited for a relaxed catch-up.

Perch outside on a sunny morning for scrambled eggs on ciabatta with miso mushroom, beef brisket benedict, sweet potato croquettes with smoked salmon and crispy kale, or a tasty breakfast bruschetta. Come lunch, king prawn rolls, cheeseburgers and chicken katsu sandos take the lead, alongside a shredded chicken soba salad and beef and kimchi fried rice.

Mayfair Lane

Mayfair Lane

Hailed as one of Perth's most celebrated British gastro pubs, Mayfair Lane's accolades are well deserved, particularly for their Western Australian wine list and menu featuring crispy pork belly and confit Wagin duck leg.

While its loyal following can be found cosying up for clandestine rendezvous' any time of the day or eve, the monthly gin masterclasses are also a must-try, offering inspiring botanical concoctions and wine education classes for any aspiring sommeliers.

Boobook Bottles & Bar

Boobook Bottles & Bar

It seems perfectly natural to be sipping on rare spirits and boutique wines and beers while surrounded by the very bottles they were poured from.

This ingenious concept is a rarity for Perth, inviting punters to sample the robust liquor menu over delicious tapas. In keeping with the inaugural theme, it makes perfect sense for Boobook Bottles and Bar to be set within Perth's first-ever metropolitan liquor store, formerly known as Gangemi's Fine Wines and Food.

Cherry and Grapes

Cherry and Grapes

Cosy, rustic, and with plenty of warm hospitality and ambience, the name of this cosy West Perth cafe is key to describing its twee charm. Cherry and Grapes' menu also caters to its professional clientele, with many of West Perth's 9 to 5 often tucking into some tasty brunch there.

The menu changes with the season, but "I'm Egg-Xtremely Bene-Dicted to You" and "Avoc-Do(n't) Worry, Be Happy" are some of the innovative dishes you can expect here. We love their sticky and crunchy KFC shokupan sando, although "That Really French My Toast," a stellar combination of homemade French toast and banana bread, might just be one of our favourite picks in all of West Perth!

Gather on Hay

Gather on Hay

If you're one of the many professionals working in West Perth who needs to butter up your boss or impress a client, Gather on Hay will do the trick.

Even if it doesn't go to plan, the breakfast and lunch classics and baked goodies served within this historic cafe and suntrap alfresco courtyard will comfort your soul. Keep an eye out on their socials for their upcoming events including art classes.

Fraser's Restaurant

Set within the magnificent Kings Park hovering over Perth's CBD and surrounded by towering gum trees, Fraser's Restaurant is one of the best restaurants in all of Perth.

It has been one of the city's most premium dining experiences since 1993. Executive Chef Chris Taylor excels with the refined produce-driven menu, whether serving an intimate soiree or the annual truffle dinner.

If you forgot to make a booking or prefer something more casual, the neighbouring Botanical Cafe serves breakfast, lunch, coffee and sweeping city views every day of the week.

Fat Boyz Small Bar

Fat Boyz Small Bar

Soul food and colourful cocktails keep Fat Boyz Small Bar buzzing well into the night. Famed for their burgers, we can't go past the Royale and Maple Mclovin' fried chicken burger, and naturally, we'll be having fries and an Aperol Spritz with that!

Their regular specials make this vibrant spot one of the best-valued bars and West Perth restaurants, particularly popular with the post-work crowd.

Julio's

Once housing Walsh's Menswear in the early 1900s, Walsh's Building is now home to Julio's, one of the finest Italian restaurants outside of Italy. Exposed brickwork, timber floorboards, open fireplaces and stained-glass windows lay the stylish groundwork for a traditional Italian feast.

The menu features handmade pasta and meaty options like Costata rib-eye, best washed down with a Margaret River Stella Bella cabernet sauvignon. Seamlessly integrated into the Holiday Inn, make it a staycation, especially since you're within walking distance to Kings Park, Subiaco and Perth's CBD.
