Bondi’s set to launch the Royal Croquet Club Summer Tour
After smashing successes in Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane, the Royal Croquet Club is coming to Sydney for the first-time. The al fresco festival will take place right on the beach at Bondi Park, and offer 11 delicious days of live music, food and fashion stalls, pop-up bars, art installations and of course, croquet games. It’s designed to be interactive, with Brand Director Stuart Duckworth saying, “There’s something to stimulate anyone’s senses!” The fun starts on Thursday November 24 and wraps up on December 4.
The Sydney line-up of eats and treats is impressive. Mamak, Hoy Pinoy and Milky Lane will be feeding and fuelling the crowd (which is expected to reach 60,000 over the course of the festival), with gelato king Messina dishing out dessert. As for the soundtrack, a mix of local and international acts are set to rock out on the Main Stage, including big names like Jarryd James, Hayden James, Bag Raiders, Dope Lemon and San Cisco.
And then there’s the croquet, and guests can play for free all day. As Duckworth explains, the festival started as a tongue-in-cheek twist on the old aristocratic sport – a day of “croquet and Pimms” to celebrate the Ashes Cricket Test back in 2013. Fast forward to now, and it’s a “lifestyle event that focuses on the performing arts with a strong passion for great food, exciting music and creative design, for the young and young at heart.”
The Royal Croquet Club will be open from 12pm til late every day. Entry is free Sunday-Thursday, and $20 on Friday and Saturday after 6pm.
