We Tried the Famed 'Hollywood Facial' and Our Skin Has Never Looked Better

What's the secret behind red-carpet-ready, flawless, glowing skin?

According to some of Hollywood's biggest stars (think Selena Gomez, Suki Waterhouse and Victoria Beckham), it's the 'Fire & Ice' facial.

The intensive clinical treatment is designed to resurface the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles - all while smoothing, softening and boosting cellular renewal for a fresh, vibrant and rejuvenated complexion.

With the treatment boasting such spectacular results, we had to try it for ourselves. 

We headed to luxury beauty and skin wellness destination, La Belle Cosmetics, in the heart of Bella Vista, to see if the sensory facial experience was worth the hype.

Expect a truly luxurious experience from the minute you step through La Belle Cosmetic's doors. 

The medispa clinic uses the latest cosmetic technologies and treatments to promote inner and outer radiance, with the Bella Vista space feeling anything but clinical. 

The stylish sanctuary fuses aesthetics, artistry and indulgence in an elevated and elegant environment. From the rich, moody hues and opulent statement pieces (hello, velvet drapery and brass accents), to the bespoke light installations and signature scent - a blend of oud wood, saffron and white rose - the stage is set for an experience that ignites all the senses. 

After a short consultation with our Dermal Clinician, Christine, who talked us through the various stages of the Fire & Ice facial, as well as important aftercare, it was time to begin.

Preparation is key, so the Fire & Ice facial begins with a thorough cleansing phase - using three different cleansers - to remove any makeup, oil and impurities. 

Next, the "fire" phase begins, with the application of an Intensive Resurfacing Masque, containing potent ingredients like unbuffered glycolic acid, retinol and niacinamide. With a strong cinnamon scent, it leaves the skin feeling warm and tingly. 

Once that is removed - and the skin is cleansed with a neutralising cleanser to balance the skin's pH - we're ready for the "ice" stage of the treatment. 

A cooling and soothing gel Rejuvenating Masque is applied to the skin. With ingredients like hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, green tea extracts, licorice and grape seed extract, it instantly calms and hydrates the skin. 

This phase is made all the more relaxing and soothing thanks to an extensive facial massage with ice globes.

While not strictly part of the 'Fire & Ice' treatment, we suggest adding in a quick LED Light Therapy session to give your skin a warm, comforting and soothing hug. 

With the skin already primed for rejuvenation, we used a combo of Red LED Light Therapy (which is ideal for anti-ageing effects, imparting a healthy glow and supporting cellular renewal), and Near-Infrared LED Light Therapy, which encourages skin regeneration, and amplifies overall skin health. 

Once that was done, our skin was treated with serums and moisturisers tailored to our skin type and concerns to lock in moisture and further enhance the radiance-boosting effects of the facial. 

The final step? A broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect our newly-treated, fresh skin from UV damage.

When we say the glow-up is real, we really, truly mean it. 

We walked in with skin that was a little dull, a little dry and in serious need of some TLC, and left with healthy, radiant and rejuvenated skin. It's easy to see why celebs head straight to the red carpet after this treatment: our skin has never looked happier or healthier. 

The effects aren't just limited to just after the treatment, either. Days on, our skin looks and feels better, and has maintained a glow without the need for illuminating products or highlighters.

Our verdict? The Fire & Ice facial is definitely worth the hype...and worth the splurge if you're in need of a self-care skin pick-me-up.
