Bistro Rex

For modern French fare head straight to Bistro Rex. Located in the heart of Potts Point, the chic Macleay Street restaurant has put a Sydney spin on classic Parisian bistros, and the 3-course menu provides exceptional value.

Available 7 days a week (excluding Fridays and Saturdays after 6 pm) choose from charred asparagus, Kingfish ceviche or pork mushroom and pistachio terrine for an entree, before enjoying risotto, a Moreton Bay bug omelette, a Rex Wagyu burger or fish of the day. The creme caramel is the perfect sweet treat to end this dining deal. Celebrating? Why not add a 1.5-hour wine package for an additional $40? Bon appétit!

Ahgora

Mediterranean-inspired eats await at Ahgora, the neighbourhood locale for those in the know. Come lunchtime, a feast of Greek food awaits, with a 3-course shared tasting menu costing $49. Try the signature Mezze plate and homemade dips, then choose from ricotta gnocchi, pan-fried prawns, beef Kopta or baked eggplant for the main. End on a sweet note with Baklava crumble and ice cream.

Kuro

Head to Kuro in the heart of Sydney for a fancy feast of Japanese favourites. Lunch at Kuro is available for a reasonable fee from Wednesday to Saturday, with one entree (scallop sashimi, Kuro Fried Chicken or Kingfish tartare) and one main (ocean trout or Wagyu beef steak for an additional $10) for only $50. Though you could leave it at that, there is an option to pay a little more for Appellaltion Rock oysters and desserts, and the expansive wine list is worth a look.

A weekend lunch set menu for under $70? Restaurant and wine bar Jane has gone one up with their bargain Australian feast at $60! Jane's most iconic a la carte dishes litter the set menu including the kangaroo tartare, pickled mussels and lamb dumplings with saltbush. With the set menu, you can opt for $3 oysters with guava vinaigrette and $10 glasses of 2022 Yetti and the Kokonut bubbles.

Brasserie 1930 

If a busy schedule has kept you from dining at the hatted Brasserie 1930 we've got good news for you. This beloved dining institution has just dropped their express lunch and it's the perfect excuse to pop in your lunch break.

Depending on how long you've got, you can choose between the one, two or three-course options with the latter including dessert. As for the menu, think slow-cooked lamb shoulder, BBQ Bannockburn chicken and a seafood starter of WA octopus with fermented chilli mayonnaise.

Equal parts playful and chic, Cho Cho San is where the cool kids go for Japanese. One of the best Japanese restaurants in Sydney, the Cho Cho San menu is designed for sharing. For fine dining without the price tag, this feast is 100% the way to go with their eggplant miso sticks, fried pork cutler and black sesame mochi trout making winning appearances on the menu.

Ela Ela 

For a full Greek feast under $70 that will have you rolling out the doors, it has to be Ela Ela. This opening from Peter Conistis has been a hit since the day it opened. Giving low-key Mediterranean luxe, the neutral interiors are a great backdrop for plate after plate of Greek treats.

Start with a wood-grilled pita, baked kalamata olives and whipped feta before diving into entrees, two main courses and an orange-blossom ice cream dessert. A fun selection of Greek bevvies and a smattering of Aussie drops make up the curated beverage list.

If it is the value you want, it is the value you shall have at the Lucky Prawn located within Bob Hawke's Leisure Centre. Settle in for the best succulent Chinese meal of your life at an absolute bargain price. At $55 per head, you'll be treated to Bob's Banquet of appetisers, mains and a refreshing mango pudding for dessert. Highlights include Lucky Prawn's famous prawn toast, the best crab omelette you'll ever eat and vegetarian dumplings. It's perfection on a lazy Susan.

If you're meat-free or just keen to get some extra veggies in your diet, head to Colombo Social for their vegan Sri Lankan delights menu. Best of all, the cost of your meals also goes towards donating a meal to a refugee in Sydney.

A fine French feast for under $65? Oui, s'il vous plaît! Choose between an entree and main or main and dessert and soak up the ambience of Bistro Moncur. They also have carafes of select wines for an easy $25 a pop. Foodwise, think pan-roasted Daintree Barramundi, steak tartare, French onion souffle gratin, pork cutlet, classic creme brulee and pear souffle.
