The Finders

The Finders

This much-loved Hobart vintage clothing co-op is a must-visit for any avid thrifter. Featuring several sellers, The Finders has a commitment to stocking a diverse range of sizes for all genders. Paw through the racks and you’ll find clothing from loads of different eras going as far back as the 1920s. The Finders also sells new clothing, including SUK workwear. Don’t miss a sift through the $10 rack – you might find a cheap treasure!

Sitchu Tip: The Finders is handily located next to Queens Pastry, one of the best bakeries in Hobart. So make sure you duck in for a post-shopping sugar hit.

Hello Gorgeous

Hello Gorgeous

Under new management as of late 2023, Hello Gorgeous has been open for 25 years and is a Hobart staple when it comes to vintage clothes shopping. In its light-filled, upstairs space, the racks of colourful vintage dresses, knits, blouses and coats are an instant mood booster. Currently expanding its men’s range and plus-sized options, you’ll find an ever-growing trove of retro finds at this CBD store. It’s all super high-quality stuff too – dry cleaned and repaired before hitting shelves, you won’t find any tears or suss stains on these vintage pieces.

Next Stop Vintage

Just a few doors down from Hello Gorgeous is Next Stop Vintage, an emerging player on the Hobart vintage shopping scene. Slightly more modern in era, this is where you’ll find women’s and men’s clothing from the 90s and noughties – think streetwear, denim, heaps of tees, jumpers, plus stacks of vintage band, brand, sports and movie merch. You can also pick up bits and pieces from local artists, like stickers, t-shirts and jewellery.

Re-Loved Market

Re-Loved Market

Expert thrifters will love the chance to dive into all the clothing racks at the Re-Loved Market, a bi-monthly outdoor market (held on the first Saturday of every other month) at Bellerive Boardwalk on Hobart’s Eastern Shore. Aside from local stallholders selling pre-loved clothing, you’ll also find those spruiking homemade clothing and homewares as well. With food stalls and a picturesque waterfront location, it’s a nice day out even if you don’t take home any vintage finds.

Rollin' Preloved & Thrift

Rollin’ Preloved & Thrift

Another relatively new Hobart store, Rollin’ opened in 2023 and offers a range of men’s and women’s modern vintage clothing – think loads of denim, streetwear, $10 ‘90s and ‘00s tees, $3 scrunchies, and grunge-inspired floral dress and blouses. Located just out of the CBD on a one-way street tucked between a café and a car dealership, Rollin’ is a bit of a hidden gem but definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a nostalgic find.

Vinnies Retro

Vinnies Retro

Sure, every Vinnies store has secondhand clothes, but the Vinnies Retro version is a more curated version of the traditional Vinnies store. With its focus on retro clothing, furniture and knick-knacks and eye-catching window displays oozing with throwback fabulousness, this North Hobart store has been a beloved thrifting destination for over 50 years. It’s always worth ducking in here when you’re in the area for lunch or drinks, given its perfect location amongst trendy bars and restaurants on the main drag.

Bruce

Bruce

If you’re a lover of the finer things, you’ll want to visit Bruce – a shop stocked with preloved designer and higher-end clothing. With two stores in Melbourne, the Hobart version is tucked up a side street in the CBD. Chic and minimalist, you’ll find clothes from Australian, European and Japanese labels like Ganni, Frame, Max Mara, Bassike, Scanlan Theodore, Issey Miyake and Comme des Garçons. Even better, it’s a consignment store, so if you’ve got your own high-end treasures hanging unworn in your closet, consider handing them over to find a new owner.
