What's On in Hobart This Month: Festivals, Arts & Culture
Annie at The Theatre Royal
Get ready to toe-tap your way through one of Broadway's most loved musicals, because Annie is coming to Hobart this month! The city's most talented singers and dancers will take to the stage to bring new life into the classic based on the comic strip by Harold Gray.
Directed by Ingrid Ganley, sing along to the hits and watch as Annie travels around New York City on a hunt to find her long-lost parents.

Abbie Chatfield: The Trauma Dump Tour
If you love pop culture and unfiltered, relatable conversation, book a date with Abbie Chatfield, one of Australia's most successful reality TV stars. Finding fame on The Bachelor, Abbie has grown an audience thanks to her no-frills, no-fuss approach to trends and issues in our modern society.
After a stellar tour in 2023, the tour is heading to Tassie for one night only, where you can enjoy Abbie's hilarious and sometimes controversial insight and vulnerability.

Namedropping
Head to the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) to see its exhibition, Namedropping. Exploring the idea of status and fame, it asks: Why are we drawn to certain objects and people? Part of the exhibition has made headlines – MONA is hosting a series of exclusive listening sessions of selections of Wu-Tang Clan’s album “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin”. There is only one copy of this album in the world, and it is part of the Namedropping exhibition. Now that’s status.

Geeveston Twilight Festival
A monthly event embodying community spirit and delicious food, Hobart’s Geevestone Twilight Feast returns on the first Thursday in September. Salamanca Market
A stroll through this long-running market is the perfect weekend activity in Hobart. Salamanca Market has been around for over 50 years, and in that time it’s grown to include over 300 stallholders, encompassing local goods from records and woodwork stalls to Leatherwood honey and whisky producers.
So central you can shuffle straight from one of Hobart’s many fabulous cafes into another excellent coffee and a Lady Hester sourdough donut.

Tesoro x Dasher + Fisher Gin
In an epic collaboration that will send food and gin lovers' hearts fluttering, Glen Tilly of Tesoro is teaming up with Dasher + Fisher Head Distiller Chloe Oppitz to celebrate fresh Tasmanian produce.
This event will highlight what this state does best, starting with Tasmanian scallop crudo and a heartier main course of housemade pasta, before ending with a gin-infused dessert.
The best part? Each course will be perfectly paired with a gin cocktail, made with Dasher + Fisher gin infused with native botanicals. From an elegant Negroni and a eucalypt and green-herb infused martini to a sweet raspberry gin fizz, this promises to be a night full of fun and flavour.

Whip out your lederhosen or dirndl and trick yourself into thinking you're in Munich for the day at Oktoberfest Hobart! Bringing all the fun of the German annual event to Tassie, In The Hanging Garden is set to transform their cathedral space into an epic German beer hall for the first time.
Expect all the German shenanigans and classics, from pretzels and bratwurst to schnitzels, and of course, plenty of beer from your branded stein - which is yours to keep.

Hobart Gin Festival
It's all about distilled spirits this month, and gin is getting its moment in the spotlight at the Hobart Gin Festival, with 30 craft distillers set to take over the Esplanade to show off their creations.
A ticket to the gin festival will give you access to unlimited gin tastings (as always, drink responsibly) with tonic and soda water, plus a tote bag and the chance to chat with the distillers behind the drink. Purchase your favourite bottle, then browse the food trucks when hunger strikes, with everything from Korean fried chicken, tacos and nachos to Vietnamese street food and burgers.

Agrarian Kitchen Stay, Tour & Dine
One of the most celebrated restaurants in Tasmania is throwing open its doors for an immersive experience made for foodies. Partnering up with luxe accommodation, from August to December guests can book an exclusive Stay, Tour & Dine experience. You’ll stay at the luxe Tasman Hotel in the city and can opt for a chauffeur to take you to the Agrarian Kitchen, about 40 minutes away in New Norfolk.
